[ARCHIVED] County road crews prepping for tonight's snow storm.

County Crews Plowing and Sanding in all Four Road Districts

SPOKANE COUNTY, November 29, 2022 – Monday’s snowfall was only a preview of what is heading our way.  Since early yesterday morning, Spokane County crews have been working 12-hour shifts, plowing and sanding emergency routes and major arterials in all four road districts – with the goal of clearing secondary routes before the next storm system arrives tonight.

Today and tonight’s frigid temperatures, combined with fresh snow means that motorists should be prepared for patches of glare ice tonight – and possibly hazardous driving conditions tomorrow morning.  Andy Schenk, Public Works Road Maintenance and Operations Administrator added that while crews are working around the clock, motorists need to make sure they are ready for winter driving conditions.  “Please stay home if at all possible, slow down and be prepared for a possible emergency situation.  This means stocking your car with a shovel, deicer or cat litter for traction, and have warm blankets on hand in case you have to wait for an emergency response,” Schenk said.  In addition, motorists are reminded to stay at least 50-feet back from all snow removal equipment.
