Major Crimes Detectives Investigate Fatal Assault in Medical Lake

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crime Detectives continue investigating a domestic violence incident that resulted in the death of an adult male.  An adult female involved in the incident has been detained, and Detectives are interviewing her.  This remains an active investigation, and charges are possible as Investigators gather information, collect evidence, and conduct interviews.

On December 23, 2022, at approximately 11:00 am., a caller reported hearing a gunshot and screaming at an apartment complex located at 227 S. Washington Street in Medical Lake.  As Deputies responded, they received additional information an adult male had been stabbed.

Deputies, surrounding law enforcement agencies, and fire/medical personnel responded to the scene.

Deputies contacted the male and learned he had been shot.  They began to address his life-threatening injuries by applying a tourniquet and dressing to try and control the male’s bleeding.  Despite everyone’s efforts, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An adult female involved in this deadly domestic violence incident was detained, as was a juvenile female believed to have witnessed the incident.  Both were transported to the Public Safety Building to be interviewed.

Major Crimes Detectives and Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Unit Technicians responded to the scene to continue the investigation and process the scene for evidence.

This is an active investigation, and charges are possible depending on the facts and evidence gathered as Detectives piece together information and learn what occurred during this deadly domestic violence incident.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Officer will release the name of the decedent, along with his cause and manner of death, when appropriate.
