[ARCHIVED] Ever Thought About Becoming a Search & Rescue Volunteer?

Ever Thought About Becoming a Search & Rescue Volunteer?

Each year, Search and Rescue Volunteers attend a local 12-week academy to earn a Washington State certification to be a Search and Rescue Volunteer.  This is an excellent opportunity to learn and hone your outdoor skills and help your community simultaneously.

This yearly academy begins the 1st week of January and lasts 12 weeks, with classes being held (generally) on Fridays from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

The cost of the class is $100.00, which includes a Suunto mc-2 compass, team shirt, and printed materials.

If you are interested in attending the 2024 academy or have questions about becoming a Spokane County Search and Rescue Volunteer, please visit our website https://www.spokanecounty.org/4039/Join-SAR

Here are a few pictures from a day spent in Riverside State Park, where the 35 newest Spokane County Search and Rescue Volunteers practiced fire, shelter building, and land navigation.
