Sexual Assault Unit Detectives Arrest Male for Multiple Sexual Assault Charges Investigators Request Additional Information from the Public
Spokane Valley Sexual Assault Unit (SAU) Detectives arrested 23-year-old Jackson Parit for Rape 1st Degree, Rape 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree (2 counts), Unlawful Imprisonment with Sexual Motivation (2 counts), and Harassment-Threats to Kill stemming from an investigation into two separate incidents of sexual assault.
Because the incidents are similar in nature and involve contacting random potential victims at gas/convenience stores, luring them to secluded locations before violently sexually assaulting them, the Sheriff’s Office believes there may be additional people who have had contact with Parit but have not reported his activity to been contacted by law enforcement.
We are releasing Parit’s photos hoping people may recognize him. Anyone who recognizes Parit or has information regarding similar activities or possible criminal activity is urged to call SAU Detective B. Schmidt at 509-477-3200, reference 22-10043303.
On April 15, 2022, SAU Detectives, Spokane Valley Investigative Unit (SVIU) Detectives, began to assist Spokane Valley Deputies with a sexual abuse call. The adult female victim reported meeting the suspect (Parit) late at night on April 14th or early morning on April 15th at 7-Eleven, 177 E. 2nd Avenue in Spokane.
The victim agreed to hang out with Parit but made it clear she did not want to do anything else. Parit drove the victim in his silver 2012 Chevrolet Equinox to his residence in the 12900 block of E. 2nd Avenue. The victim admitted to using drugs with Parit but stated she was reluctant to go inside his home. He promised her food, clean clothing, and a shower, and she agreed, and they went inside the residence. After some time, Parit became aggressive, and when the victim tried to stop him, he began hitting and “choking” her stating he would kill her. Believing her life was in danger, she attempted to calm Parit down, hoping he would stop, and even tried to crawl away from him, but he pulled her back. She eventually escaped, running from the home screaming for help. Deputies responded and contacted the victim a short distance away.
Deputies provided her with a blanket and medical attention and began investigating the incident. Other Deputies located Parit in his vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 12500 block of E. 4th Avenue. SAU and SVIU Detectives obtained a search warrant for Parit’s home and vehicle, processed both, and collected evidence. He was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for several felony charges.
During the investigation, SAU Detectives also interviewed Parit at the jail and collected evidence. After reviewing a sexual assault case that occurred on April 9, 2022, they noted the similarities between the two incidents.
In this case (April 9, 2022), at approximately 8:30 pm, the adult female victim reported meeting an unknown male (Parit) at Piggy Mart, 932 W. 2nd Avenue in Spokane. The victim asked if Parit would buy her some cigarettes, but he didn’t have ID. He explained he knew of a place in Spokane Valley that would sell to him if she was willing to go with him. She agreed, and they drove toward the Valley in Parit’s vehicle, described as a 2000s grayish-blue hatchback.
However, instead of going to a store, Parit drove the victim to Valley Mission Park and locked the doors. Parit began groping the victim and pinned her down in the passenger’s seat. Unable to escape, the victim fought back, trying to stop the assault, but the suspect became violent, striking the victim in the head multiple times, causing the victim to lose consciousness.
After the attack, Parit drove the victim back to Spokane and dropped her off at 7-Eleven, 177 E. 2nd Avenue, telling her to leave. She got out of the vehicle and went into the store, where several people began to help her after they noticed her condition. She sought treatment at a hospital, and a sexual assault kit was completed. Deputies responded to the hospital, contacted the victim, and began an investigation.
SAU Detectives linked the two sexual assaults with DNA evidence and identified Parit as the suspect. With the evidence from the investigations, SAU Detective B. Schmidt developed probable cause to arrest Parit with Rape 1st Degree, Rape 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree (2 counts), Unlawful Imprisonment with Sexual Motivation (2 counts), and Harassment-Threats to Kill.
On March 29, 2023, Parit was located and booked into the Spokane County Jail on the listed charges, where he remains, with his total bond set at $150,000.
Due to the similar and random nature of these sexual assaults, including the locations, the vehicle used, and the facts of how they occurred, we are releasing photos of Parit with the belief people may have had similar contact with Parit and may not have been victimized or may not have reported the incidents to law enforcement.
SAU Detectives ask anyone who knows or recognizes Parit and can provide any information that may help Detective with this or other investigation is urged to call SAU Detective B. Schmidt at 509-477-3200, reference 22-10043303.
