[ARCHIVED] WARNING: Traffic Emphasis Planned for Friday

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Commercial Traffic Enforcement Team is partnering with the Washington State Patrol and Spokane City Police Department to conduct a traffic emphasis on Friday October 28th in Spokane County.

The emphasis teams will be looking for passenger vehicles committing violations around Commercial Motor Vehicles on our roadways. The most common violations are speeding, lane violations and turn signal violations.

The Spokane County Commercial Traffic Enforcement Team would like to remind all motorists that commercial trucks require twice the distance as passenger cars to stop.
They are a quarter of a block in length and up to 20 times heavier than most passenger cars.

Speed has been attributed to approximately a quarter of all accidents involving Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) and passenger vehicles in Washington State. We ask you to drive safely at all times but please provide CMVs extra room and stay clear of their blind spots.
