[ARCHIVED] Seasonal Weight Restriction Signs & Enforcement

Seasonal Weight Restriction Signs & Enforcement

As we eagerly await sunny days and warmer temperatures, our roadways go through the damaging effects of the freezing and thawing weather cycle.  We all hate dodging potholes or being delayed by the inevitable summer construction season but you can help protect our roadways.  The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and Public Works Department want you to be aware of Seasonal Weight Restrictions and how your attention to signs like this, will help reduce potholes and the need for costly road repairs.

Affected roads are posted with signs indicating the maximum allowable weight.  Typically, weight restrictions do not apply to the average car or pickup truck.  However, commercial and construction vehicles may need to lighten their loads or find an alternate route.  We ask our local companies to join us in protecting our roadways by following these posted weight restrictions.  We also want to warn potential violators, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Deputies will be patrolling these areas and violators will be fined!
