Fatal Crash in South Spokane County

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Collision Investigators were called to the scene of a single vehicle rollover crash early this morning.  The 19-year-old female driver, and sole occupant, was seriously injured and airlifted by Life Flight to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

On May 17, 2017, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a single vehicle rollover crash in the area of S. Cheney Plaza Rd. and S. Rock Lake Rd. in South Spokane County.  They received information the female driver was unresponsive and good Samaritans, who stopped to help, had begun CPR.

Traffic Collision Investigators were called to the scene as were SIRT volunteers to assist with traffic control.

The driver was transported from the scene to a local hospital by Life Flight, but despite all the life-saving efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries.

Initial information shows the vehicle was northbound when it drifted right, then swerved back across the lanes of travel, left the roadway, and rolled.  The driver was wearing her seat belt on and investigators believe speed was a factor in this fatal crash.
