Major Crime Detectives Investigate Inmate Suicide Attempt

Spokane County Detention Services Staff Member located a male inmate in his cell who hung himself in an attempt to end his life.  The inmate was transported to a local hospital where his is listed in critical condition.

This morning prior to 10:45 a.m., a Spokane County Detention Services Staff Member observed a male inmate sitting on the floor of his cell with a sheet wrapped around his neck and was unresponsive.   He called for immediate assistance and responding Corrections Officers began life-saving efforts. 

The inmate was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Spokane County Major Crimes Detectives were called to the scene to conduct an investigation with the assistance of Forensic Unit personnel.

The inmate’s name is not being released at this time.  He was booked into the jail on two felony charges.
