Road Construction and Maintenance Update

SPOKANE COUNTY, July 6, 2020 – With road construction and maintenance projects underway in all four road districts, motorists are asked to slow down in work zones and watch for flaggers.

CONSTRUCTION

Bigelow Gulch Phase 5
Road closed for excavation-local access only. Completed: 08/31/2020.
   Progress Rd: from Forker Rd to Forker Rd
   Road closed - use alternate Route

Blanchard Creek Road Culvert Replacement
Work includes the removal of the existing culverts and the construction of a new structure over Blanchard Creek. Completed: 10/31/2020.
   One lane is open. There may be delays due to shoulder work – please watch for    flaggers and slow down in the work zone.

Geiger Boulevard-Hayford Road to Soda Road
Improvements to Geiger Blvd include roadway excavation, curb, drywells, signing and signals. Completed: 07/31/2020.

Geiger Blvd: from Hayford Rd to Thomas Mallen Rd
   Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). Road is open to through traffic with temporary striping. Anticipate possible lane and shoulder closures with roadside work continuing through July.

Mead-Mt. Spokane Sewer
Install sewer, manholes, and reconstruct the roadway. Completed: 07/31/2020.
   Day-Mt Spokane Rd: from US-2 (Newport Hy) to US-2 (Newport Hy)
   Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). Day Mount Spokane West of HWY  2 to Freya Road is open with possible work on the shoulders.

Mill Road-Hastings to Dartford
Roadway Reconstruction. Completed: 10/31/2020.

Build New Riser - Comcast
Sefnco Communications to build new riser on Avista poles. Completed: 07/10/2020.

   Restrictions in the northbound lane on Yale Rd. Flaggers will be present at 16510 N Yale.

Liberty Lake Eastside Water Improvements
Replacing a water line on Neyland. Completed: 09/30/2020.

   Road closed for water line replacement.

Quanta Telecom-Shoulder Closure
Underground cable installation requires lane restrictions in the northbound lane, including closing the shoulder. Completed: 07/15/2020.

   Northbound lane restrictions and shoulder closure.

Replace damaged Comcast Service
Sefnco Communications to replace damaged Comcast services along Mohawk. Expect single lane closures with flaggers. Completed: 07/10/2020.

   Expect lane restrictions, slow down and watch for flaggers from Salnave Rd to the Cheney City Limits to I-90.

Ditch cleaning with backhoe in various locations
Crews are cleaning ditches with a backhoe on Stoneman Rd; Forker Rd; Gerlach Rd; West Newman Lake Rd; and Muzzy & Hauser Lake Rd intersection.

Euclid Rd Bridge Closure Detour route in place. Work on bridge to be completed by BNSF.

Gravel Road Stabilization
Crews are oiling and rolling for gravel base stabilization, expect lane restrictions. Completed: 07/09/2020.
   Spangle Creek Rd: from US-195 to Yale Rd
   Spangle Creek Road, grading and prepping for base stabilization. Expect lane restrictions and slow down in the work zone.

Pot Hole Repair
Pot hole repairs continue countywide and are dependent on weather conditions.

Road Grading
Road grading for dust-oil requests and maintenance as needed and as weather conditions permit.

Street Sweeping
Street sweeping of residential areas continues countywide. Motorists should watch for slow-moving vehicles.
