Road Construction and Maintenance Update

July 31-August 7, 2020

  
SPOKANE COUNTY, July 31, 2020 – Motorists are asked to be patient, slow down in work zones and watch for flaggers. At the end of the day we all want to get home safe and sound.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Bigelow Gulch Phase 5
Progress Road is closed for excavation – local access only! Completed: 8/31/2020.
   Progress Rd: from Forker Rd to Forker Rd
   Road closed – motorists should use an alternate Route.

Blanchard Creek Road Culvert Replacement
Work includes the removal of the existing culverts and the construction of a new structure over Blanchard Creek. Completed: 10/31/2020.
   One lane is open. Expect delays due to flaggers using the roadway or work on the shoulders.

Hazard Road Drainage Improvements
Work includes pavement demo, excavation, erosion/water pollution control and ditch excavation. Completed: 10/31/2020.
   Hazard Rd: from Dalton Rd to Dalton Rd
   Roads will have one lane open during the day and two lanes open at night. Motorists should slow down and watch for flaggers.

Mead-Mt. Spokane Sewer
Work includes the installation of sewer pipes, manholes, road reconstruction. Completed 7/31/2020.
   Day-Mt Spokane Rd: from US-2 (Newport Hy) to US-2 (Newport Hy)
   Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes): Day Mount Spokane West of HWY 2 to Freya Road is open. Motorists should watch for crews working on the shoulders.

PRIVATE CONTRACTOR WORK BY PERMIT

5 Pole Aerial Plant Extension
Work on the Comcast project is being done by Sefnco Communications (509-532-8308). It will cover approximately 650-feet and include a new tap on private property. Sefnco will start on the east side of Government Way, going north for approximately 275-feet, then going west across Government Way and placing a riser on private property. Completed: 8/7/2020.
   Government Wy: from River Ridge Blvd to River Ridge Blvd
   There will be a single-lane closure with 2-way alternating traffic. Motorists should slow down and watch for flaggers.  
 
Aerial and Underground COAX Installation
Work on the Comcast project is being done by Sefnco Communications (509-532-8308). Work includes boring under the street. Completed: 7/31/2020.
   Colbert Rd: from US-2 (Newport Hy) to Saddle Hill Rd
   Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes)

Gas Service Construction
This is an Avista project and will cover approximately 315-feet west of Argonne Road on the south side of Upriver Drive near the east-bound lane. Completed: 8/3/2020.
   Upriver Dr: from Argonne Rd to Marguerite Rd
   There will be one-way flagging through work zone and the sidewalk is closed. Motorists should slow down and watch for flaggers.
 
Greenridge Water System and Booster Station Improvements
Halme Construction (509-725-4200) project includes the installation of a water system, approach, sidewalk, tree trimming/removal, paving/grading the road crossing on Greenridge Drive to the west of Idaho Rd. from 1506 S. Greenridge to 799 N. Greenridge. Completed: 8/18/2020.
   Greenridge Rd: from Idaho Rd to north end of road
   The road is closed.

Liberty Lake Eastside Water Improvements
Halme Construction (509-725-4200) is replacing the water line on Neyland. Completed: 9/30/2020.
   Neyland Rd: from Lakeside Rd to Gage St
   Road closed for water line replacement.

Overlash Fiber from One Pole to Another
Work on the Comcast project is being done by Sefnco Communications (509-532-8308). Overlash fiber installation will begin from pole one on Eastern Rd. to pole twenty-nine on Williamson Lane. Work will include the corner of Eastern and 37th Ave. and travel west on 37th to Glenrose, then south to 41st. Completed: 8/7/2020.
   37th Av: from Eastern Rd to Glenrose Rd
   The shoulder is closed and flaggers will be present.
   Glenrose Rd: from 37th Av to 41st Av
   Lane restrictions and flaggers will be present.

Underground Cable Installation
Work is being done by Quanta Telecom (713-629-7600). An underground cable installation of approximately 107-feet. Work will go south on the west side of Harvard.
   Harvard Rd: from UPRR Crossing #55031 to UPRR Crossing #55031
   There will be lane restrictions and the shoulder will be closed.

(Road maintenance projects are subject to change due to weather conditions and other road maintenance priorities)

Asphalt Overlay at intersection of Day Mt. Spokane Rd and Green Bluff Rd.
Crews are overlaying asphalt at the intersection of Day Mt. Spokane Rd and Green Bluff Rd. Completed: 8/4/2020.
   Day-Mt Spokane Rd: from Green Bluff Rd to Green Bluff Rd
   There will be intermittent road closures. A detour is in place on Dunn Rd.

   There will be intermittent road closures. A detour is in place on Dunn Rd.

Crews are overlaying asphalt at the intersection of Day Mt. Spokane Rd. between Greenbluff Rd. and Randall Rd. Motorists should expect delays, watch for flaggers and follow a pilot vehicle through the work zone. Completed 8/5/2020.

   Motorists should expect delays and watch for flaggers.

Backhoe ditch cleaning on Gardner Rd & Cheney-Spokane Rd intersection and 2,000 ft south on Gardner.

   Gardner Rd: from Cheney-Spokane Rd to Taylor Rd
   Motorists should expect lane restrictions and watch for flaggers.

Chip Sealing Palouse Hwy from Spokane City Limits at Freya to Hwy. 27.

   Motorists should expect delays, watch for flaggers, and follow pilot vehicles through the work zone.

Euclid Rd Bridge Closure
Euclid Rd Bridge is closed and a detour is in place. Work on bridge is the responsibility of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

   Euclid Rd Bridge Closed!

Herbicide Broadleaf Application
Herbicide Broadleaf Application along County Road right-of-ways through October as the weather permits.

Idaho Road Bridge Closure
Idaho Road Bridge is closed between Truax Rd and Sanders Rd for major repair work. Detour is set in place. Completed: 8/13/2020.

Pot Hole Repair
Pot hole repair continues countywide through October as the weather permits.
