Solid Waste System Provides FREE Tree Damage Disposal

SPOKANE COUNTY, January 14, 2021 – The Spokane County Regional Solid Waste System is offering free tree damage disposal at all three of the system’s transfer stations. Beginning on Friday, January 15th and continuing through January 30th, the free service is offered to residents only – commercial or business customers will be charged for disposal of tree damaged debris.
Before going to a transfer station, please review the requirements below:
- The temporary free service is only for storm damaged trees and tree limbs; not grass clippings, leaf piles, root balls, or building debris.
- Trees and branches should be cut so they are no longer than six feet – at the Waste to Energy Facility only, tree branches should be no wider than three-inches in diameter!
- This free disposal is offered to residents only. Commercial or business customers will be charged for disposal.
Transfer Stations:- North County Transfer Station (22123 N. Elk-Chattaroy Road)
Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Valley Transfer Station (3941 N. Sullivan Road)
Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Waste to Energy Facility (2900 S. Geiger Blvd.)
Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily
Residents are cautioned that some downed trees may have power lines tangled in their branches. DO NOT ASSUME THE LINE IS DEAD! DO NOT TOUCH OR DRIVE OVER DOWNED POWER LINES! Please call your power company to remove the lines.
When visiting a Transfer Station you will be required to wear a mask and social distance as much as possible. This means that the number of customers allowed on the tipping floor is limited. Please be prepared to wait. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
