Road Construction and Maintenance Update

Through Friday, July 9, 2021

  
SPOKANE COUNTY, July 6, 2021 – Stoneman Road from Parksmith Dr. to Argonne Rd, was closed due to areas of heat damage on Wednesday, June 30th. Crews have finished making repairs and it has been reopened.
 
ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Bigelow Gulch Phase 3
Road Reconstruction (remove and replace), culverts, stormwater, guardrail and illumination system. Road is CLOSED to through traffic from July 6 to July 19, 2021! Project Completed: August 31, 2021.
 
          Weile Ave: from Thierman Rd to Bigelow Gulch Rd to Thierman Rd – Road is
          CLOSED through July 31, 2021.  Detour through Jensen Road or periodically 
          through Columbia Drive.
 
          Bigelow Gulch Rd: from Weile Ave to Argonne Rd – Road is CLOSED July 16              through July 19, 2021. Road CLOSED south of Jensen Road.
 
Chattaroy CTB
Crews will pulverize the existing pavement and use Portland cement Type 2, spreading and mixing and other work. Motorists should expect delays Completed: July 31, 2021.
          From US2 to Elk-Chattaroy/Hardesty Intersection.
          Flaggers and a pilot car may be present. Please slow-down in the work zone and
          expect delays.
 
Frideger Road Bridge Replacement
The existing bridge will be removed for the construction of a new structure over Little Spokane River. The project includes the removal of the existing roadway and widening with the construction of the new roadway. Completed: October 31, 2021.

          Little Spokane River
          
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes): Detour route in place on
          Bridges Road, Madison Road and Frideger Road.

PRIVATE CONTRACTOR WORK BY PERMIT
 
STA Four Lakes Station
WM Winkler crews are paving First Avenue. The project includes the sidewalks, curbs and gutters – along with demolishing part of Spokane Street. 150-feet of road will be reduced to a seven-foot wide walking path south of First Avenue. Completed: July 30, 2021.
          First Avenue: from Electric Ave. to Cheney Street.
          Road CLOSED on First Avenue on the east and west side of Highway 904 from
          8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as needed.
 
Waikiki Ranch Estates – Aerial and Underground Fiber Installation SUB SEFNCO
Sefnco crews are working on N. Waikiki starting at 10925 to 11114. They are installing an overlash 48CT cable on an existing strand. Work includes a bore and place conduit with 48CT FO cable. Project dates: July 9-16, 2021.
          Waikiki Rd: from Five Mile Rd to Mill Rd
          There will be lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present on
          Waikiki Road north and southbound.

ROAD MAINTENANCE
(Road maintenance projects are subject to change due to weather conditions and other road maintenance priorities)

Crack Sealing on Eloika Lake Rd from Division Rd to Hwy. 2.
Crews are crack sealing on Eloika Lake Rd from Division Rd to Hwy. 2. Expect lane restrictions & flaggers. Completed: July 8, 2021.
          Eloika Lake Rd: from Division Rd to US-2 (Newport Hy)
          There will be lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Motorists should slow
          down and watch for flaggers. 

Euclid Rd Bridge Closure
Euclid Rd Bridge is closed and a detour is in place. Replacing the bridge is the responsibility of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.
          Euclid Rd: from Bridge #1508 Over BNSF to Lyons Rd
          Road Closed – Euclid Rd Bridge Closed
