Road Construction and Maintenance Update
September 10-17, 2021
SPOKANE COUNTY, September 10, 2021 – Construction and maintenance projects are underway throughout Spokane County. Please slow-down in work zones and watch for flaggers.
ROAD CONSTRUCTION
57th Ave- Perry St. to Mt. Vernon Rd.
Constructing ADA ramps, median island construction, HMA grinding and paving. Lane Closures & narrow lanes - use alternate route. Completed: Late October.
Appleway Ave Reconstuction – Full Road Closure on Monday, September 13 2021.
Improvement of Appleway Ave. by removing asphalt and concrete pavement, planning bituminous pavement, grading and shaping crushed surfacing, HMA, guardrail, pavement markings. Completed: November 30, 2021.
Appleway Av: from Spokane Bridge Rd to Spokane Bridge Rd
Road Closed: Full Road Closure 9-13-21.
Bigelow Gulch Phase 3
Road Reconstruction (remove and replace), culverts, stormwater, guardrail and illumination system. Completed: October 31, 2021.
Weile Ave: from Thierman Rd to Bigelow Gulch Rd
Motorists should expect lane restrictions (both directions, both lanes). Road is
OPEN!
Columbia Dr- Northwood to Argonne.
Roadway Excavation, ADA ramp installation, Pavement removal and repaving. Lane Closures and flagging. Full closure to through traffic September 20, 2021. Look for signage and watch for updates. Detour through Jacobs and Thierman. Completed: early October.
Frideger Road Bridge Replacement
The road is CLOSED while the existing bridge is being removed for the construction of a new structure over the Little Spokane River. The project includes the removal of the existing roadway and widening with the construction of the new roadway. Completed: October 31, 2021.

over Little Spokane River – Road is CLOSED – Bridge OUT!
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes): Detour route in place on
Bridges Road, Madison Road and Frideger Road.
Wellesley Railroad Crossing Improvement
Removing pavement, crushed surfacing top course, HMA, cement concrete curb, guide posts, pavement markings, permanent signing, temporary traffic control. Dates: September 27-November 30, 2021.
Wellesley Av: from Railroad Av to Murray Rd
Lane Restrictions (Both Directions, All Lanes): Watch for flagger's, road closures,
lane restrictions, detour route.
Garland Av: from Molter Rd to Murray Rd
Lane Restrictions (Both Directions, All Lanes): Watch for flaggers & detours.
PRIVATE CONTRACTOR WORK BY PERMIT
Install and Maintain an Overhead Electric Distribution Line
Inland Power and Light (509-747-7151) crew is installing an overhead electric line over Laurel Road. The line will originate from an existing pole on the north side of Staley Rd and extend south onto private property. Completed: September 13, 2021.
Madison Road: from Laurel Rd to Laurel Rd
Motorists should slow-down and watch for flaggers in both directions and all lanes
on both Laurel Rd and Madison Rd.
Repair Gas Service
Avista (800-227-9187) crew is repairing gas service on the south side of Upriver Drive and east of Argonne Road. Completed: September 24, 2021.
Upriver Dr: from Argonne Rd to Willow Rd
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): East-bound lane shift and sidewalk
closure. Road Closed: Hayford Rd is closed at Richland – detours are in place:
Westbow to Aero Rd. and Melville to Thomas Mallen.
SAR-HMC Antenna Replacement Project
Avista (800-227-9187) crew is replacing a SAR-HMC Antenna on the south side of 57th Avenue just east of Napa Street. Completed: September 30, 2021.
57th Avenue: from Napa St to Martin St.
Motorists should watch for flaggers (both directions, all lanes).
SAR-HMC Antenna Replacement Project
Avista (800-227-9187) crew is replacing a SAR-HMC Antenna just west of Crestline St on the north side of 57th Avenue. Completed: September 14, 2021.
57th Avenue: from Crestline St to Crestline St.
Motorists should watch for flaggers (both directions, all lanes).
SAR-HMC Antenna Replacement Project
Avista (800-227-9187) crew is replacing a SAR-HMC Antenna on the west side of Crestline St at 54th Lane. Completed: September 14, 2021.
Crestline St: from 54th Lane to Spokane City Limits.

SAR-HMC Antenna Replacement Project
Avista (800-227-9187) crew is replacing a SAR-HMC Antenna on the north side of 57th Avenue just west of Cook Street. Completed: September 14, 2021.

SAR-HMC Antenna Replacement Project
Avista (800-227-9187) crew is replacing a SAR-HMC Antenna on the north side of 57th Avenue just east of Regal Street. Completed: September 14, 2021.

Asphalt Overlay Elk-Chattaroy Road
Overlay is a paving method of applying a new layer of asphalt to a deteriorating surface. Completed: September 16, 2021.
Elk-Chattaroy Rd: from Muehle Rd to Elk-Camden Rd
Motorists should expect delays in both directions and all lanes. Be prepared to stop
and watch for flaggers.
Crack Sealing on Seven-Mile Road from Coulee Hite Rd to SR-291
Crack sealing with hot asphalt helps to preserve the road surface. Completed: September 14, 2021.
Aubrey L. White Parkway: from Spokane City Limits to North End of Road
There will be lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): Please slow-down in the
work zone and watch for flaggers.
Euclid Rd Bridge CLOSED
Euclid Rd Bridge is closed and a detour is in place. Replacing the bridge is the responsibility of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

Shoulder Preservation on Grove Road
Crews will grade and add gravel to build up the sides of the road on the gravel shoulder. Completed: September 16, 2021.

zone and watch for flaggers.
Craig Rd: from Deno Rd to Rambo Rd
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): Motorists should slow-down in the work
