Crews Working to keep Priority One Roads Clear

  
SPOKANE COUNTY, February 28, 2023 – The latest storm system arrived around midnight and by this morning’s commute, some parts of Spokane County had already received up to a foot of fresh snow…and another band of snow is expected later today with up to three-inches for some areas.

Since early this morning, Spokane County road crews have been working to keep the Priority One roads (emergency routes and major arterials) clear for motorists in Washington State’s largest county road system (5,100+ lane miles). While they will continue plowing, sanding and deicing throughout the day and into tonight, working in 12-hour shifts, motorists are advised to drive for conditions and not the speed limit. It’s also important to give yourself plenty of room to stop – and please stay 50-feet back from snow removal equipment.

Another round of snow is expected on Thursday. Keep in mind that every time we receive a significant snowfall, our crews must refocus their efforts on the Priority One and Two Routes. The public’s understanding and patience is appreciated.
