Road Construction and Maintenance Update

SPOKANE COUNTY, May 5, 2023 – Our crews are working on a variety of projects throughout the county. Please remember to slow down in work zones and watch for flaggers.
ROAD CONSTRUCTION
Bigelow Gulch Mitigation – Start Date TBD
Improvement of the Bigelow Gulch Road Offsite Mitigation site located along Minnie Creek near Fish Lake Regional Park by clearing and grubbing, temporary irrigation, grading, planting and other work.
Brooks Road Reconstruction – Start Date TBD
Improvement of Brooks Road by reconstruction and widening by clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation, embankment compaction, cement spreading, crushed surfacing, hot mix asphalt, contractor designed underground structure, beam guardrail and other work.
Euclid Road Bridge No. 1508
Removing and constructing new bridge and road approaches; including asphalt pavement, signing, striping, erosion control, filter drain, installing beam guardrail, and miscellaneous structures. Completed: September 30, 2023.
Euclid Rd: from Bridge #1508 over Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks to Lyons Rd. Road Closed: Bridge is closed. Use Detour.
Lincoln Road and Sewer – Start Date May 15, 2023
Project includes improvements to Lincoln Road from Market Street to Crestline Street by replacement of the entire roadway, widening vehicle travel lanes, the addition of stormwater management infrastructure, and moving pedestrians to new locations. https://www.spokanecounty.org/5214/Lincoln-Road-and-Sewer. West Terrace Stormwater Project
This project provides for the improvement of Hayford Road and Richland Road with the construction of a storm sewer system. The project includes a catch basin, corrugated metal pipe, drop inlet, cutoff wall/pipe anchors, unsuitable pipe foundation, dewatering, and paving. Completed: July 1, 2023. Completed: July 1, 2023.

Hayford Rd: from Westbow Rd to Richland Rd
Road CLOSED intersection of Westbow and Hayford. Not closed near Richland.

Altamont St: from 63rd Av to South End to 63rd Av
Road CLOSED: S. Altamont CLOSED
Install Sewer Connection
Poul Construction: (509) 956-6587. crew working in the right=of-way at E. Farwell Road between Mayfair and Ruby. Project includes excavation, fire hydrant, sewer/water services and repair, asphalt paving and road closure. Completed: May 5, 2023.
Sargent Rd: from Maringo Dr to Walton Av
Road CLOSED: Sargent Rd CLOSED at Maringo intersection. Local access only.
Mead Works
Continental Contractors: (509) 724-3179. Water & Sewer tie-in at Mellon Parkway and Farwell Rd. eastbound. Completed: August 18, 2023.
Farwell Rd: from US-2 (Newport Hy) to Shady Slope Rd
Road CLOSED: Mellon Parkway Road Closure & Farwell Eastbound
SP-1711-22 – Crestline Short Plat
TDR Development: (509) 362-6362. Crew installing utilities. Project will include an asphalt cut on Winger/Crestline. Completed: May 5, 2023.
Winger Rd: from Crestline St to Shady Slope Rd
Road CLOSED: Winger Road CLOSED for approximately 10 hours.
MAINTENANCE
Asphalt Overlay
Apply asphalt over large areas of roadway for preservation.

Crack Sealing
Application of a flexible sealant in cracks to prevent further break up on asphalt roads.
Grading gravel roads
Grading of gravel roads to cut out washboards for a smooth traveling surface.
Pot Hole Patching
Patching holes where needed throughout Spokane County
Street Sweeping
Cleaning of paved roads with street sweepers or kick brooms.
Weed Spray
Yearly Weed Spray on County Roads
