Conditions Too Wet for Road Grading

SPOKANE COUNTY, March 27, 2017 – The Public Works Department has been receiving numerous calls from citizens requesting that their roads be graded.  Unfortunately, dirt and gravel roads are simply too wet to grade right now.  The soil is so heavily saturated that it would be like filling ruts or “wash boards” with mud.  With more rain in the forecast this week, the ground will become wetter/muddier and less stable, which means any of the benefits of grading would be quickly eliminated.  Consequently, public works crews will not be able to effectively grade roads until conditions dry out.
