Secure Your Load-Be a Load Warrior!

SPOKANE COUNTY, June 1, 2017 – This is the time of year when folks clean up their yards and/or clear out the garage.  While you’re busy with your to-do list, remember that whether you’re taking ‘clean green’ yard waste or ratty old furniture to the transfer station (i.e. ‘the dump’), you need to cover and secure the load with tarps, bungee cords or rope.  Otherwise, you run the risk of some items flying out of your pickup and creating litter…or worse…landing on the vehicle behind you, which could cause a serious accident and injuries – that could result in civil and/or criminal charges.  With that in mind, the Eco Team is asking everyone to secure their load and be – A Load Warrior!

The Eco Team is a collaborative partnership between the Spokane County Regional Solid Waste System, Water Resources, Stormwater, and the City of Spokane’s Solid Waste Department.  Beginning today (June 1, 2017), the Eco Team will be handing out static window clings at the three transfer stations to those who come in with their load secured – recognizing them as a “Load Warrior”.

For more information, call (509) 625-6580 or go to www.spokanecountysolidwaste.org. Partial funding for the “Secure Your Load” campaign is provided by the Washington State Department of Ecology.
