Fire Danger Halts Road Grading Throughout County

SPOKANE COUNTY, July 25, 2017 – Continuing hot and dry weather throughout the Inland Northwest has dramatically increased the risk of wildfires and has indefinitely halted road grading in the department’s four road districts.  The Spokane County Public Works Department is asking the public to be patient and understand that until a substantial amount rainfall drenches the region, road crews are unable to grade dirt and gravel roads.  A single spark from a grader blade could start a fire that destroys a home and surrounding properties.
