SPOKANE COUNTY, October 5, 2017 – Motorists should fix leaks so they “Don’t Drip and Drive”. Vehicle leaks can cause havoc for drivers and the environment.
 
Motorists in Spokane County can find an affordable fix and keep pollutants out of our aquifer and the Spokane River, thanks to the “Don’t Drip and Drive” program.
 
Stop by the Car Care Fair at Spokane Community College this Saturday, October 7^th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Automotive specialists will conduct for a FREE vehicle inspection to check for leaks.  Need a top-off?  They’ll fill your fluids, too.  Two City and County employees will also be on-site at the Auto Care Fair to hand out coupons for 10% off leak repairs (up to $50) at participating shops.
 
For those who can’t make it to the Car Care Fair, that’s okay!  Many repair shops across Washington will also conduct a FREE visual leak inspection and offer the same discount to fix leak-related problems.  For a complete listing of participating locations and more information, visit www.fixcarleaks.org.
 
The “Don’t Drip and Drive” program was designed to build awareness and educate people throughout the State that it is important to check for vehicle leaks regularly to extend the life of your car and protect our water.  Studies show that 67% of drivers who find a leak will fix it within three months.
 
Spokane County and the City of Spokane promote pollution prevention campaigns with other organizations around the region. Participating in these programs gives us the opportunity to leverage funds for large regional programs that provide more resources to our residents and a consistent message about the importance of protecting the aquifer and local waterways.
